Why Use CNC Machining?

CNC machining is a technologically advanced process used in today’s manufacturing.  The result is a precise, economical and ecofriendly product compared to traditional machining.  CNC machining takes machining to the next level.  Short for computer numerical control, CNC is the addition of computers to traditional manufacturing methods of milling, grinding, forging, and lathing.  These traditional methods had high levels of machine errors and human oversights.  Those challenges caused rework and added time to completing orders.  Production reruns produced large amounts of scrap which is often cost absorbed by the company or customer.  As a solution, manufacturing engineers used computer controllers as the driving force behind precise machining.  CNC machining processes have minimized the waste of resources and time by decreasing the errors and oversights. 

CNC machining produces more precise results which allow both the original products and any replacement products to have the same dimensions.   When parts can be reproduced to exact dimensions, repairs or replacements become less complicated and can be guaranteed.  The advantages of CNC machining can be seen in both the quality and quantity of production.  Production of a quality product is increased while production time is decreased.  This is a valuable tool in improving the bottom line for companies.  And customers are pleased with the consistency and reliability that CNC machining brings to purchases. 

As in all computer programming, the first design will need to be setup in the CNC computer machining system and the length of start-up time will depend on the complexity of the piece.   Once the programming is complete, the benefits are unmatched.   Modifications or additions to the original program can be done with very little impact to production time and further adding to efficiency.
